Ukrainian drone strike kills one, sparks fire at Russian port terminal

A Ukrainian drone attack killed one person and sparked a fire at a sea terminal in the Russian port of Temryuk in the Krasnodar region, Reuters reported on Saturday, citing regional governor Veniamin Kondratiev.

Kondratiev said the strike targeted the southern port city and caused a fire at the terminal. Russian authorities did not immediately provide details on the extent of the damage.

Temryuk was also targeted in late May, when Ukraine’s security service said it had struck a gas terminal at the port.

In a separate incident on Saturday, authorities in Russia’s Volgograd region reported a fire in an industrial area in the Kotovo district following another drone attack.

Regional governor Andrei Bocharov confirmed the fire but did not identify the facilities affected or disclose the extent of the damage.

The latest attacks come as Ukraine continues to intensify strikes on Russian energy, fuel and logistics infrastructure following the collapse of ceasefire efforts and stalled peace negotiations. Recent Ukrainian operations have targeted oil refineries, fuel depots, pumping stations and export terminals across multiple Russian regions.

Earlier this week, Ukraine’s military said it struck the Afipsky oil refinery in Russia’s Krasnodar region, causing a fire at the facility. Russian officials acknowledged a fire in the area, though they attributed it to falling drone debris.

Ukraine’s campaign against Russian energy infrastructure has expanded significantly this year, with strikes disrupting refinery operations and fuel supplies in several regions, including Crimea.

Russian authorities have meanwhile continued missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian cities and infrastructure, as the conflict shows little sign of easing.
