The MoH said in a daily briefing on COVID-19 that 901 COVID-19 cases were recorded in Amman, 149 in Irbid, 62 in Zarqa, 48 in Balqa, 44 in Aqaba, 40 in Ajloun, 38 in Jerash, 31 in Karak, 18 in Tafilah, 12 in Maan, 11 in Madaba and 8 in Mafraq.

A truck driver tested positive for the lung disease at the al-Omari Border Crossing with Saudi Arabia, and a man who had come from abroad also tested positive, the MoH added.

Thirty-five people succumbed to the respiratory disease within the last 24 hours as the death toll stands at 380.

In the government’s effort to stem the spread of the highly contagious virus, the epidemiological tracing teams conducted 24,475 tests today as the total number hits 1.59 million. Also, 94 people had recovered and were discharged from hospitals.

Amid a rising number of cases, the MoH urged people to abide by health measures, wearing masks and gloves, and to commit to defense orders that prohibit holding gatherings of more than 20 people, highlighting the importance of downloading the “Aman” and “Sihtak” apps.
