Jordan receives 1st installment of $845mln U.S. grant

Jordan has received an installment of $699.9 million out of a $845-million annual U.S. grant, the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation announced on Monday.

The ministry said the installment, including $350 million for the Jordan Response Plan to the Syrian refugee crisis, was channeled to the state’s treasury.

It noted that the second installment of $145 million will be signed before the end of the current year.

Noteworthy, the total foreign aid and soft loans signed with and pledged by donors and international financing institutions to the Kingdom in the January-July period amounted to $1.7 billion.
