وقعت شركة قطر للطاقة مع شركة ExxonMobil اتفاقية تستحوذ بموجبها الأولى على 40% في منطقة استكشاف بحرية قبالة سواحل البحر الأبيض المتوسط لجمهورية مصر العربية، بينما يبقى لـ ExxonMobil نحو 60% من حقوق التنقيب والاستكشاف .
وحصلت شركة ExxonMobil في عام 2020 على حقوق التنقيب والاستكشاف في منطقة شمال مراقيا البحرية التي تغطي مساحة تبلغ 4.847 كيلومتر مربع في مياه تتراوح أعماقها بين ألف وألفي متر.
